Sildenafil medicines are prescribed for treating the symptoms of erectile dysfunction (ED) in males. Apart from treating impotence issues, healthcare professionals also prescribe these medicines for managing the symptoms of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH).

Usually, the lower doses of these medicines are considered safe for use. They might not trigger any significant side effects and even if one develops the side effects, it can be of mild intensity which disappears soon.

To avoid major health risks, use these medicines only after a healthcare professional’s prescription. Medical intervention is essential, especially for those who have serious health conditions.

About Sildenafil

Sildenafil is a medication that is primarily used for managing the symptoms of erectile dysfunction (ED) and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). It contains sildenafil citrate, which is its active ingredient. In addition to this, it also consists of some inactive ingredients.

Sildenafil is classified under the category of phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor drugs. Its function is to suppress the activity of PDE5 enzymatic action and dilate the blood vessels to enhance blood flow inside them.

Doses of Sildenafil

Sildenafil medicines come in three main doses, which are 25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg. 25 mg is the lowest dose of these medicines that help overcome minor difficulties of impotence problems. To begin with, the healthcare professional will suggest the lowest dose.

This dose is recommended to see its impact on the erection function. If you can manage impotence issues efficiently with this dose, then they might ask you to continue its usage. Otherwise, they will change the dose by prescribing a higher dose.

The highest dose, that is, 100 mg will help overcome severe forms of impotence issues. The dosage and consumption method will be suggested by the healthcare professional only. The dose will be decided based on the severity of erectile dysfunction and several other factors like age, general health, medications, etc.

How does Sildenafil deliver its effects?

Sildenafil comes under the class of PDE5 inhibitor drugs that have vasodilation qualities. The medicine treats both the conditions, that are, erectile dysfunction and pulmonary arterial hypertension by conducting vasodilation in the penile region and pulmonary arteries.

Erectile dysfunction occurs because of the narrowing of the penile blood vessels. This hinders the blood flow to the penile tissues. With a decreased blood flow to the penile, the person struggles to get and maintain stronger erections.

However, the medicine opens the narrowed blood vessels and increases the blood supply to the penile. Similarly, for treating pulmonary hypertension, the medicine dilates the constricted arteries of the lungs. It relaxes the arteries and eases the blood flow inside, thereby reducing the blood pressure.

The function of this medicine is to ease blood pressure and facilitate the blood flow through the blood vessels. A generic version of Sildenafil is Sildisoft 50, which comes in a chewable form. It is a medium-dose ED medicine, that relieves moderate forms of erection difficulties and restores the erection function.
